What is a Manic Pixie?

Manic Pixie Dream Girl /MPDG/

noun / (especially in film)

A Manic Pixie Dream Girl is a common character archetype in fiction, typically portrayed as a quirky young woman who becomes the romantic interest of a male protagonist.

Coined by film critic Nathan Rabin in 2007, the term gained prominence after Kirsten Dunst’s role in Elizabethtown.

Why Manic Pixie?

Inspired by the vibrant energy and style of Australian singer-songwriter Peach PRC and the millennial generation, Manic Pixie pays homage to the spirited essence of the 2000s bubblegum pop era.

Peach PRC’s EP, Manic Dream Pixie, released on April 28, 2023, inspired our love for both the name and the genre.

The concept of Manic Pixie was born one day during school holidays, when a frustrated dance mom struggled to find a local source of bulk gems and crystals for her 11-year-old daughter’s dance costumes. Combining her experience in running a children’s boutique with her daughter’s keen eye for trends, Manic Pixie came to life.

At Manic Pixie, we celebrate individuality with our vibrant collection of gems, rhinestones, and accessories. We invite you to infuse your world with the same joy and creativity that defines a Manic Pixie Dream Girl. Join us on this exciting journey as we embrace the magic of the 2000s and beyond, one sparkling moment at a time.
